Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI) is a procedure where sperm is placed in a woman’s uterus at the time of ovulation. To accurately predict when ovulation will occur blood tests and scans are carried out throughout the menstrual cycle. Medication may also be used to assist with ovulation.
The IUI procedure involves threading a very thin flexible catheter through the cervix and injecting sperm directly into the uterus. Its a simple procedure which is very similar to having a pap smear and normally only takes a few minutes.
